Barricato - IGT (2003)
This wine is made from the most select of the Cabernet, Merlot, and Sangiovese grapes, grown meticulously and under very strict conditions on a special plot of land in the vineyard.
Grapes are harvested when they are very ripe, as to obtain the highest alcohol levels possible, along with high levels of polyphenols.
The vinification process is quite lengthy, no less than 12 days, and the grapes are treated in a very delicate manner throughout the entire process.
Steps in which the wine is pressed and drawn are especially important in completing the wine with such distinct characteristics.
As soon as it is drawn, the Cabernet is placed in barrels where fermentation is completed. Next, Batonage sur lie methods are employed to refine the wine for 14-16 months. The wine is then placed in a tank where it rests for 30-60 days. It is bottled unfiltered to preserve its original characteristics.
Barricato Damiani is solid yet carries a fine and delicate aroma with distinct hints of Cabernet, making it unmistakable.

Chianti - DOCG (2004)
Made from select Sangiovese grapes (85%) and Canaiolo and Colorino grapes (15%) that are rigorously harvested by hand in September/October. Grapes are picked when their fragrance, sweetness, and their skins' polyphenol levels are just right.
The vinification process is traditional and lasts 7-12 days. Special care is taken in soaking the skins, as it is a very delicate process.
The wine is drawn by hand with the help of a soft vertical press; careful attention is given to the product obtained during this step. The next step is fermentation which transforms the Chianti into a harmonious and complete wine. The refinement period is quite lengthy since the Chianti is bottled within 6 months of harvest (as to preserve its original characteristics).
The ruby red color is lively and brilliant, with an aroma that is intense, fresh, lively, and persistent, reminiscent of the grape still on the vine. The taste, soft, balanced, and lively, has an enjoyable aftertaste recalling all of the aromas of fermentation. |
